Offshore renewable energy support vessel

Converted from a former North Sea fishing vessel, Scotia W is a well-appointed 80ft (24m), category 2 vessel that is equipped to operate as a support vessel for the offshore renewable energy sector.

Suitable for 24-hour offshore operation as a wind farm support vessel, guard ship or ecology survey boat, Scotia W is equipped with the latest navigational, survey and communications electronics.  Powered by a 425hp Caterpillar D353 engine and fitted with a 14,000-litre fuel tank, the boat has a cruising speed of 8kts and a range of 1,000 nautical miles.

The vessel boasts large, open, double-height decks which are ideal visual observation platforms for conducting seabird and marine mammal surveys at offshore wind farm sites.  Seated eye level heights on the decks are 5.1m and 7.2m.

Living accommodation onboard comprises large adjoining lounge and dining areas which both seat 10 people and includes a small library, TV and DVD and CD players.  The galley is fully-equipped and has both electric and solid-fuel cooking ranges.  In addition, there is a fully-equipped laundry room, central heating throughout and a work area that is easily accessed from the main deck.

When chartered with a crew of two, the boat provides sleeping accommodation for 10 passengers in six en-suite cabins – two singles and four twins.  The well-appointed cabins are spacious for a vessel of this size and afford comfortable accommodation.  The level of specification also makes Scotia W suitable as an accommodation and meeting base for senior personnel on site visits.
